Description
“@NJDevils LW Taylor Hall has informed his agent Darren Ferris that he wants a trade as of a few days ago & that the @EdmontonOilers are the number one team on his list according to a former #Oilers player/management member, we shall see where this goes....#NJDevils  #LetsGoOilers “

This is what’s going around on Twitter right now, just wondering how accurate you guys think this is. I personally don’t know and I feel like it’s probably just some EDM media people trying to make this a thing.

It’s Joshua Marshy Bosco, so my dog might as well of made the rumour.

Isn’t he followed by like all the oilers reporters? That’s why I said it’s probably Oilers media trying to make it a reality.

Is there still hot air between Hall and Kassian? If so that could play a pretty relevant part in where he goes

Like I put in the bio I assume it’s probably just EDM media trying to make it a thing.

Samorunkov, a 1st, and Chiasson?
Samorunkov and a 1st are equivelant to Brannstrom and the second. chiasson - lindberg. Not sure if an extension in place, can discuss that, thoguhts?

if we give up to much more I don't think it's worth it. Also depends on what were the real problems with Halls last stint in Edmonton, anyone have a proven source on that?

I think you're underestimating Samorukov and overestimating Brannstrom.

If anything, it's a combination of Samorukov and the 2020 1st Round Pick is being overvalued. I'm as big of a Dima fan as anyone else, but he's a completely different player and Brannstrom is at an entirely different level. I dont think an upgrade on a pick within 30 positions justifies the gap between Samorukov and Brannstrom. New Jersey would likely ask for Broberg instead, and I can confirm with 100% confidence that's a road the Oilers aren't interested in traveling down. There's also the matter of New Jersy wanting to target other prospects as Ty Smith and their collection of LHD could pan out into a handful of NHLers.

Chiasson if anything is a burden to this deal as its apparent that the motive is to dump his deal and term. Any deal involving the Oilers probably sees Yamamoto, the 2020 1st Round Pick, an expiring UFA, and a conditional pick based on Hall signing. I don't like that and I doubt Holland does either. I'm of the opinion that any Hall trade hurts the Oilers more than it benefits them and that targeting other names (I really like Zucker's term and hit) is probably a more apt solution. I still don't think moving that 2020 1st Round Pick is the wisest idea and that next years' pick is the one to move AFTER securing a few more quality prospects and breaking Edmonton's current crop into the NHL.

It's hard to take stock of what you have and what you need when you haven't seen a full year of professional production from your key prospects AND you're already poised to sell on the assets that would bolster that group coming up.

I've been against trading for Hall from the very start and still am but wanted to see what others thought. Lindberg isn't even in the NHL anymore so thats what had me thinking Chiasson, I was thinking though maybe the Oilers send their 2021 1st instead and the NJD include their 2021 2nd in the event hall doesn't resign, in which case you move down about 25 picks and give up Samorunkov for a solid run at the cup? So Hall and conditional second if he doesn't resign for Samorunkov and a 1st cause like you said Chiasson is a cap dump. Still a loss but if he resigns it's probably very close. We have a luxury of defensive prospects so i'm ok with choosing Samorunkov although like you said they may ask for Yamamoto instead. I honestly doubt Yamamoto becomes a succesfull player for the Oilers. I hope I am wrong with all my heart and while I am not ready to give up on him yet, I would be ok with a trade along those lines, depending on an extension in place or conditions of the pick. Most of all I am concerned about Halls history in Edmonton and that is my main reasoning behind not wanting to trade for Hall (thinking about yes but not wanting to). Were their locker room issues and what was going on there and how is this resolved now. Also you're right they probaby would seek Broberg, or maybe Bouchard.

Broberg and Bouchard are rated much higher than Brannstrom is by Pronman. I agree with whoever said you're overrating Brannstrom and underrating Samorukov.
