hear me out:
mcdavid and draisaitl already are undoubtedly the best duo in the league (at least as of now)
Last year we saw either the avs or bruins as having the best line. McDavid >= MacKinnon and Draisaitl > rantanen. In theory only a landeskgog-type guy would make the oilers have a better top line. Johnson is probably the only available player on the cheap that could fulfill this position (w/o free agency, obviously I could sign hall for the sake of it)

If this line was together, would they accumulate the most combined points in the league?

Oh man dont give me that gf percentage an corsi it means nothing if your team actually isnt winning yes it can help evaluate certain players but 30 other nhl teams would take kass drai McDavid line over Matthew's line simple as that no one drives the line better than McDavid and drai.

advanced stats are nothing when there is a mere category called "points" which literally translate to goals.

to break free from this argument, this AGM is showing that EDM (you cannot argue any team has a better DUO than them) is missing a better third piece to MAKE them have the best line. I'm not saying they do already.

(i may also note i am not an oilers fan)

How can you argue with the simple fact mcdavid had 3 goals 3 assist and Drai had 5 assist in the last oilers game while the leafs lost 4-2. No one on this planet believes the Matthews line is better than mcdavids

Obviously you dont watch much hockey. Watch a game. Mcdavids line is far better. How can Matthews line be better than mcdavids when both mcdavid and draisaitl are better than the best player on your line. Get real. Watch a game you will see who is better. Leafs arent even 2nd best line. Boston has a waay better line.
