Whoever voted "NO" doesn't understand how the CBA and ELC's work....

Knights were waiting to see how he recovered from his achilles tendon injury. He just played his first game of the season so they signed him to an ELC.
He wont make the Knights next year and unlikely to the year after, so the first year of his contract can slide for up to 2 years. The three year contract will probably result in ELC control for the Knights for 5 years.
I believe the NHL portion of the ELC would be higher next year and the year after.
Signing him now is cheaper in the long run and for the next 2 years, only his signing bonus ( if there was one) would count against the salary cap

My concern is how he's gonna perform on the ice after the injury (especially being an Achilles injury), hence why I voted 'no' in the first place.

The pay is fine but the term is outrageous. Those signing bonuses, who does he think he is, Marner? He hasn’t proved anything yet. Can he kill five minute majors? Vegas needs that.

The only risk is that he plays so bad that they wouldn't want to waste a contract on him in 2 years (when his rights expire).

Which basically never happens to 1st round picks ... because he'll still be worth a late pick in a trade at that point (as a project pick up).

He is a junior hockey player.... not even turned pro yet... nevermind a recent hmmm 1st round draft selection and a 3 year ELC is standard for any 1st contract with bonuses ranging depending on draft position and player for a first round selection. The contract is going to slide for his development and going to be cheaper AAV when he actually does turn pro. He is more than likely to develop with the Wolves his first full season pro and gain experience that way on top of it all. Great pick by the Golden Knights in the first round and great signing for that organization even if he turns out to to be a bust but probably won't be.
