Trade with WPG

Created by: V1NnY2
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 17, 2019
Published: Nov. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Two players who could use a change of scenery and could benefit another team. MTL needs to add a little bit of size and WPG could use a fast, defensively-reliable player to support their top-6. This trade would be a win-win for both teams IMO.
Trades
MTL
  1. Roslovic, Jack
  2. 2020 6th round pick (WPG)
WPG
  1. Lehkonen, Artturi ($625,000 retained)
  2. 2020 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Swapping picks because Roslovic was drafter 2 years later than Lehkonen, so technically more time for him to grow.

Both players have the same numbers of PPG. Roslovic 9 goals last year. Lehkonen has had seasons of 18, 12 and 11 goals so far. Same number of points this year. Lehkonen is playing 14 min this year and 0 PP time while Roslovic is playing 14 min but almost 2 min of PP time per game. Don't see how Roslovic if so much better + the Jets could use a different type of player.

This whole "Roslovic needs a change of scenery" thing has been overblown for a long time and now that he's been finally put in a top 9 role (he should've been in the top 9 last season but Maurice is stubborn) he's playing well and contributing on the score sheet, no reason to trade him at all not that there ever was one.

Also given the uncertainty with Little's unfortunate injury and Wheeler's age Chevy would be an absolute moron to trade Roslovic now.

Roslovic is a center playing the wing and will likely be shifted to center permanently at some point which makes him more versatile and valuable.

Roslovic is the more skilled player compared to Lehkonen, I like Lehkonen but this isn't a good trade for the Jets.

Regardless of whether whose "better", not sure if I agree even with the premise.... Habs need a little more size so they go get Roslovic? WPG needs a speedy winger so they drop Roslovic for Lehkonen? Both guys are not robust nor slow. The difference they may have is hardly palpable.

Both players need a change of scenery? Lehkonen is doing just fine here in Montreal, not sure why he needs a change of scenery? If people are expecting him to be a top line producer, he never will be but what he does do is still important and respected by the coach. I don't think they're looking at his numbers and saying he needs to produce more. Can't blame him for the PK this year. That is a group effort.

As for Roslovic, not sure why WPG thinks he needs a change of scenery at 22? Came off his most productive season last year and this year is getting more ice time and is producing at a higher rate than last year.....
