The issue is the 2020 draft is in Montreal and we don't want to give up our first for that draft.

Great idea. I'd say Domi and Suzuki for Marner.

I just don't think it's realistic for Marner to fetch such a big return in Domi and a first. Marner for Gallagher + Petry would be more likely.

You really underestimate marner - why would the leafs give him up for two players that will be UFA at the end of next season?

Gallagher is about as untouchable as it gets. His value means more to the Habs than it ever would to any other team. Petry is playing lights out this year and is huge part of our defence. We wouldn't want to move either of Petry or Gallagher.

If the location of the draft prevents a team from acquiring a franchise player then their GM is an idiot.

And Bergevin is not an idiot.

A realistic trade for marner would include petry. There’s no shot MTL acquires marner without including him

he'd trade a first if a big name guy was willing to sign. would u rather have a top 20 pick or a taylor hall type player. (just an example)

i dont think the habs would be down for it. for starters, that price tag is really hefty. marner can out produce domi, but domi brings other elements to the ice, that marner just doesn't. and domi will be cheaper than marner. the only guy who i see the leafs trading marner for is matthew tkachuk, and i doubt the flames do that.

Depends if that player was a rental or not, so yeah I would rather a top 20 pick than Hall.

I'd do it just to see Kappy and Domi on the same team...

Maybe throw Juulsen in somehow? I don't know why but I feel like that guy could pull an Ethan Bear and go from an Ahler to a regular Nhler without much trouble at all.

Juulsen is already an NHLer. Montreal’s just too deep on RHD for him to make the team. He’s also coming back from a major injury.

How's he looking this year after the injuries? That's about as unlucky as a guy can get.

Don’t really know, since I haven’t watched any Rocket games, but I’ve heard that he’s back to his normal self, playing great in the AHL. I think that if Cale Fleury hadn’t cemented himself on the team, Juulsen would be the 3rd pairing guy in MTL.

That's good to hear. I remembering reading that some poster thought it might be career ending, That woulda been be a crappy way to end a career.

With a right side of Weber/Petry/Fluery could you see Juulsen being up for grabs? If so, what do you think it would take?

I could see Juulsen being available, but if they trade him it will probably be in a package for a LHD or Top 6 forward. But I don’t think they’ll trade him just for the sake of trading him.
