The Edmonton trade is one you guys should make. Not sure if the Oilers would, though -- their fans seem to be sold on Bear.

How come you Pittsburgh guys never trade Bjugstad to his home town?

Bear is kinda like Fleury in MON. A guy that most didn't think would look good (if at all) so soon. The only difference is in EDM, Bear is probably gonna fall back down the depth chart next year given their young depth at RD. Buy low, sell high.

The only thing that MIN has is cheap youth and they don't wanna give that up. Any reasonable trade would include absolute crap coming back.

I see your point on ZAR. But I at least could see the EDM trade. TOR trade is a bit of a wish but it's really not that far off. A team like TOR that has 3 players making 8 figures a year is the real definition of win now. I've seen (and posted about) TOR fans thinking trading Kappy will save the day but it won't. Marner is their "go to sniper" and most teams can't absorb an 8 figure guy. Trading Kappy (who can play 2 RW) won't move enough cap to get what they need to right the ship. That leaves Nylander the odd man out.

Yeah, but you have certain cap concerns to consider. Do you think that Ryan Donato or Ryan Hartman are useless to your team? I would think that an exchange for either would be better than Bear plus a cap dump. I'm guessing that Calen Addison would be ready to compete with Bear for that 3rd pairing RD next season.

Zero chance Edmonton trades their 22-year-old #1RD for a cap dump. What a joke!

If Bear is their #1 RD, that's the joke.

He is, and has been all season. He plays the hardest minutes consistently, playing against elite opponents all game long. He's a valuable young player and a frontrunner for the Calder. This trade is laughable.

Hartman would be on his what, 4th team in 2-3 years? Ehh… Donato is kinda looking like the same way. Addison was one of the first guys sent packing from training camp this year so I am gonna say he is at probably 2 years away from being part of the conversation. Nothing against the kid but he's young and played on a very stacked team.

they could get a better player than Schultz (whose a pending UFA) for that package. I agree leafs should've moved Nylander last season when he wouldn't sign. Dubas looked weak during the Nylander contract situation and handled it poorly. Matthews and marner camp took full advantage of this. I still think Nylander will be moved tho, but he'll bring back a good young cost controlled RHD. Schultz doesn't fit that description

I agree this trade is completely in pens favour, but Bear is no where in the calder race. he may receive some votes, but that award is 150% Cale Makars.

If it works, it works. So why change it? You can laugh at Bear being on the top pair but they’ve improved a ton and I’d say Bear is more untouchable than Nurse and Larsson. The guy has the perfect breakout and awareness to make plays in his end.

My bad on this. I did some more looking and he is playing some serious minutes. I didn't realize that Larsson has been out.

To my defense, if you check out my trades in previous posts, I've added him in multiple trades so it's not a Johnny Come Lately kinda thing. Same trade with Persson and sub the EDM 3rd for a 2nd?

hes a good young D, but he has 0 shot at the calder. Makar and Quinn Hughes are easy D picks over him. also in the video it didnt mention once that hes an early favourite for the calder

I’m not completely sure if I’m sold on Bjugstad being productive enough as a 3rd line centre, he seems lacklustre on the offensive side of things not to mention that contract is pretty big and the guy can’t seem to stay healthy. His height certainly is a positive but I’m not so sure if he’d fit in our bottom 6 (which already can’t produce) especially for that price.

Is Bjugstad more valuable than Gagner? Serious question.

The article makes it pretty clear how the author thinks. And you might think Bear has no chance, but that author actually has a vote - you don't.

Like I said, bear is good, but let’s pump the breaks on him for the Calder. Cale Maker is having a more productive rookie season than Bobby Orr LMAO. It’s not even a question who wins the Calder right now.

Pretty sure I've seen AGM's where PIT fans are dumping Bjugstad for next to nothing, which is why I asked. If he's a cap dump then trading him for a guy like Gagner makes sense due to contract differences.

"Brakes", lol.

Anything can happen. McDavid was considered a shoe-in for the Calder too, then got injured in game 45 and the rest is history. It's WAY too early to say things like "he has 0 shot at the calder".
