A. it's not just about them.
B. they haven't skated around all their opponents. I don't know where you get that. Toronto held a corsi advantage over the penguins last game. They were pinned into their end a lot.
They are a bubble team that is dangerous with Crosby. Without him, it's a 50/50 if they make the playoffs.
Geno is good, he can help carry them while Crosby is gone. But at some point the weakness down the middle will show and further injuries could really derail this team.
You look at the division and you can see where they are in the standings. tied for 4th with Philly. Behind CAR who is a solid team, WSH who is a solid team, and NYI who beat them last year.
Right now they hold the #1 wild card. With most of those games including Letang and Crosby. How does the team play if both are out long term? What happens if more injuries keep piling up?
Can they realistically catch teams once they pull ahead, if they pull ahead. I don't know if they can catch WSH we'll see, it's a long year. But the way they are playing they may pull away with the division from the Pens if the pens aren't winning at a good pace.
The Metro is the hardest division in hockey. There are 5 good teams in it every year. This year is no different. Someone isn't going to make it.
