CGY passes hard. We need Hanifin back there and we aren't trading him for another middle-6 center (which we have enough of) and a guy we put on waivers multiple times.

you wouldnt get the chance to pass
i'm half tempted to pull this kid's MTL Fan Card

none of y'all ever gave Poehling a 2nd thought
but you will given we got 2/3 of the top line from Team USA's last WJ run
Poehling played Caufields Center and helped him tie Ovechkins Tournament Goal Scoring record from 2003 with 14 goals

Trading Poehling is the definition of Naive especially when Hanafin will just be in the way after Romanov and Harris join us either this spring for a Playoff run or next Camp .

given we have 4 regulars from team USA all in the same age group who are growing together it would be stupid to trade any of them just to get 2-3 years of mediocre defensive play

Geez selling Poehling a little short don't you think? Lol Maybe the trade doesn't make sense for the Flames fine but Poehlings been in virtually every projected top 50 prospect list the past year but you make him sound like he's 3rd string Pk'er pretty much.

Led the WJHC is scoring. Scored a hatrick in his first game. What more does this guy got to do?

I just don't peg him for a 1C, which leaves middle-6 by default. Either way it seems like it'd be a bad trade for both teams.

In what world do you think GM's now trade 1C potential prospects away? Hanifin is good but there are plethora of 1C calibre centermen who are still rookies that I wouldn't do straight up for Hanifin.... I get the asking price has to be high as to sort of protect yourself from underselling a player but I don't think you need to undersell Poehling in the process. He's a legit good prospect. not sure Hanifin could land a more premier prospect like Dach or Hayton or Alex Turcotte, etc

I'm just saying I wasn't selling him short. He's just not a 1C and the Flames don't need another middle-6 C. Bad trade needs-wise for both teams.
