CHI Trade - Thoughts

Created by: SevenLeg
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2019
Published: Nov. 18, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Chiarot would give them more toughness on the blueline and would give them much-needed cap space for next season( their busy offseason), so would dumping Zack Smith. Habs get an upgrade on LD and Smith's contract expires in 2 years (our busy offseason).

I know its an unlikely scenario because Habs just signed Chiarot and Murphy and Maatta are more likely to be moved than De Haan

De Haan has been REALLY good for the Hawks. I can't imagine they trade him away for anything reasonable. He's not really what MTL needs either, no? Don't they need a puck moving Dman?

I'm starting to move to the Murphy-Mitchell camp of thought when it comes to who we move in the offseason. That being said, Murphy should absolutely not be moved unless it cannot possibly be helped anymore. As for de Haan, he has been exactly what we need for Seabrook (in the sense that that pair can have its head above water). I think that If anyone is moving from Chicago for Cap reasons it has to be Matta and not the other two.

But just to say it my list of least likely to move - most likely from those guys are Murphy-de Hann-Maatta

Also, De Haan is not a top-pairing defenseman.

With all that said and done, we reject the trade offer... we got De Hann for peanuts, but that does not mean we have to trade him for some!

De Haan cant play as much ice time as Chariot .
unlike Chariot he's on a steady decline these past few years.

Chariot every year gets better and plays more.

if we plan on missing the playoffs getting someone like De Haan is irrelevant
if we plan on making the playoffs the minutes he logs and the role he plays is needed .

The last thing we need is another LW who is struggling .
his physicality is a nice add but we need another Right handed shot to help Gallgher and Armia

without Right Handed shots we're giving up half the passing lanes on the ice

right now a player like Mckenzie Entwhistle or Slater Koekkoek who plays a similar game to Cousins would be of more interest .

Entwhistle offers us Size and Speed similar to Armia's new style of play he's known for battling along the boards and driving the net hard. 6'3 net front presence would give the Cousins-Thompson line more space and momentium .

Koekkoek is similar to Kulak but actually blocks shots and hits something Kulak is unwilling to learn .

we like getting RFA's we can build value on
last time we got one from CHI he became our top Center

Please, make Slater Koekkoek your number 1 LHD. You won't regret it.

If you're interested in Slater Koekkoek you need to evaluate your understanding of the game of hockey. He's been a 7D his entire career for a reason.

i am pretty sure i never even suggested it

unlike the sheep in our fanbase i'm more then comfortable with Chariot ,Weber and Petry averaging over 22 minutes a night with Mete growing into his role .

Mete struggles against Physical teams sure but that's like 4 contending teams we'll face regularly to worry about so no big deal at his age . We need someone to to play the 6th/7th D role this year so we can move on from Kulak and Reilly . Romanov will be here in April for a playoff run in which Koekkoek is just holding his seat for him as he's more physical then Emelin and a better skater/passer then Markov .

MTL doesnt need a #1 LD and the only people who think that pay no attention to our system .
Harris will be up next year but could make the jump earlier . He plays RD and LD with established Chemistry with Primeau the Heir to Price's throne in MTL

We also have Struble and Norlinder developing who offer us depth long term .
the only place we struggle in LD depth is today because Alzner's signing set us back after trading Sergachev we needed to do better and MB settled .(and he paid for it )

you guys just dont listen
you jump to **** assumptions just for a chance to talk like an adolescent

you need to learn to read
not my post or team i'm just commenting
i'd never be so naive as to think CHI D can fill that role for us .
Gustafsson maybe but he's struggling hard demoted from top to bottom pair

CHI doesnt have the answers for MTL as far as top LD
but MTL doesnt need a top LD when Romanov's mere months from joining the team as his KHL's stars are UFA's and 3/6 top 6 are NHL bound most likely so this is their core's last run trying to become back to back champions . Romanov and Petry has so much potential on PP that MB is flying back and fourth to Russia to talk to Romanov making his side guarantee's if he comes over .

Koekkoek is brought on for exactly the role you sarcastically through shade at
in MTL all 4 lines play , as do all 3 pair . Due to this hard style of play there is often short term injuries making us rely on the 13th forwards and 7D more then other NHL teams as Claude Julien always has done .

we're done making the Alzner level mistakes taking other peoples trash and trying to make them top line guys as MB has said in to many media address's to count ''we will fill this void with the draft''

I'm not sure why both teams even make this trade?

From a Habs perspective, Chiarot is playing lights out good right now and is cheaper than De Haan and Kulak hasn't been great this year but is a cheap 5-6-7th dman. Plus nobody wants Smith at that cap hit.
As per above De Haan is playing well for Chicago so why are they trading him?

This is like trading Lemieux for Gretzky......like...why? This neither solves any problems or does anything better than what is currently being done already. That's not how trading works.

You said that the last RFA you guys got from Chicago became your number 1 center. That sounds like a passive-aggressive "Adolescent" jab to me if ive ever heard one.

Previously in that statement, you said your team should be interested in KoekKoek, so im just returning the favor.

Go ahead and build up his value, Id love to see that experiment.
