Not sure if it was optimism or pessimism, but I thought there was enough talent there to finish 5th in the Central and end up just missing the playoffs, then picking like 13th or so... I much prefer the tanking, though... Would be nice to pick inside the top 5 since we last did 15 years ago.

I thought they'd be just outside the playoffs about now. If anybody knew they'd be this bad, you get a prize. I also thought Zuccarello's deal would look horrible in another two years, but I didn't think it would get there yet.

Staal is still a good #2 center. He has a great contract which will not be overly difficult to fit into a team tight against the salary cap. That coupled with the TD should make him a pretty desirable contract for a team in need. I believe Wild will get a 1st rd pick for him.
