Boyle was a third line center who also played on the PP and Plekanec was a 4th line center who was also MTL's top penalty killer at the time and honestly the Leafs still overpayed.
Spezza is in and out of the lineup and averaging 11 minutes a game when he does play, there was even talk that he was going to hit waivers before Marner got hurt.
See the difference? If a team did even bite expect a return like Nate Thompson got at the TDL last year.
