players I would love to get if we are in the rental market by playoff time

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2019
Published: Nov. 18, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
this is based on the bottom 10 teams in the standings right now, obviously there is going to be a lot of movement but this is just for fun. Now obvioulsly this is all depending on the Dustin Byfuglien situation and how it works around the cap. If making moves is possible, I see the most realistic fits being Toffoli, Pageau, and David Savard. However I don't think the jets will even end up making moves at this years deadline with just how unpredictable this season could be.
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
Would definitly cost a lot. Definelty would be a HUGE boost to the d core on the right side though. My guess would be prospects like Vesalainen and Niku and then high draft picks
MIN
2.
WPG
  1. Athanasiou, Andreas
Additional Details:
Would be a real nice player to add for depth on the third or second line. Maybe a second rounder and a b prospect gets it done?
DET
3.
WPG
  1. Toffoli, Tyler
Additional Details:
Could a combination like a 2 and a 3 or 2 second rounders get it done for toffoli?
LAK
4.
WPG
  1. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
Additional Details:
Would be an unreal add as a third line center to go on a late season surge with. With the way he is playing right now the price would be way up there, what would you think gets it done?
OTT
5.
WPG
  1. Savard, David
Additional Details:
could slot in nicely in our top four, a package around a second and a decent prospect would be around the price probably.
CBJ
6.
WPG
  1. Hall, Taylor
Additional Details:
Would obvioulsy make our forward core absolutely disgusting, based on the Mark stone trade last year, I think the price would have to be Ville Heinola and a first rounder
NJD
7.
WPG
i dont want anything from them haha
    NYR
    8.
    WPG
    1. Maroon, Patrick
    Additional Details:
Would be a great piece to add grit in the bottom six, i would think a third or fourth rounder could get it done
    TBL
    9.
    WPG
    1. Dillon, Brenden
    Additional Details:
Solid defensively, would do a package around a third and a decent prospect
    SJS
    10.
    WPG
    1. Muzzin, Jake
    Additional Details:
at a retained salary i would part with a second and take it from there

Ones that make sense for me are JGP and Dillon. We need a 2LD and a good 3C. I think we could get JGP for a 2nd and a 3rd. If the cost is a first I say no way and don’t give up near that. For savard id say we probably send Stanley + Nikkanen and 3rd.

I agree, I think JGP makes sense in so many ways for us

savard isn't a rental, it would cost you more than a 2nd and a guy who's probably never going to see the ice.
If they moved him my guess is the return is a 1st. Everyone looks for defense at the TDL. If they wanted to move him, they would have no shortage of offers.

A 2nd and a B prospect is not getting you AA. Wings in a rebuild not all off.

There is a lot hockey left this season but AA has 8 points in his last 9 games.

That doesn't even approximate the basis of an acceptable trade for the Jackets. Logan Stanley is practically valueless to us as we already have more LDs than we can find ice time for at all levels of the org, and what little I can find on Nikkanen doesn't suggest he's anywhere near the quality level we'd want.

Sort of, except we're not moving him for futures at all, let alone higher value ones. We'd want a roster forward, preferably at C. Possibly helpful example: the asset we were looking for the last time we contemplated a Savard trade was Nazem Kadri straight up, before the Barrie trade happened.

Wait what, why do we need Pageau when we have Lowry at 3C?... are some starting to realize what I've been saying for many years.....

What center do you really think you'd get for Savard?

That depends on what teams would be willing to meet our asking price. We do not need nor want to sell him.

I mean I love what Lowry brings to the team, but we need a 3rd line that can score. Lowry needs to stabilize that 4th line. I think pageau would be a perfect fit. Also in the topic of savard I’m not quite sure what this guy expects to get for him lol. No team is gonna move anything better than a b tier 3c and futures for him. He’s definitely not going to fetch a 2c or a tier 3c as any team that would want him will be going for a deep run. Plus he’s not going to resign there so why not move him for something. I’d offer Lowry and a 3rd for him at most lol. Especially if we’re making the JGP move.

A 3rd line that can score is what they've needed for years and for years there's been options that might of worked but Maurice just wouldn't try them.
Yes I agree that Lowry is what's needed to stabilize the 4th line and allow Maurice to play it for more then 6 minutes a game.
Pageau would be a great addition but why not just play Copp at 3C? He's had success playing center before, has a good shot and a bit of offense to his game and really if you watch that line closely it's obvious that Lowry is the offensive weak link, I really wonder what Perreault and Copp would be doing if they had almost anyone else with them.

I was thinking the same thing about that Savard for a center idea.. Lol.. He's worth a 3C with similar term at best and Lowry + a pick was exactly what I was thinking too.. haha
