BUF should easily accept this.

This is an interesting offer, Barrie is unlikely that we really need him, he most likely will not get a place on PP1, but if we could get another solid forward for top 9 from another team for him, then I would probably make this deal. Or maybe even him save and trade another RHD.

I'm in. Value favors us, fills a need from a position of strength, and gets us what is likely a late first as well. Meaning we will have moved pick 30 from last year plus guhle for kapanen and pick 25 (?).

That’s what I thought. Certainly would improve on the move you made to get montour.

I didn’t really consider the thought of sabres resigning Barrie. That would make sense too. I can’t see the leafs making this much of an overpay and kappy does a lot of great things for us but this puts us in a nice spot for next season with Rielly/Montour Dermott/Holl Sandin/Liljegren.

At least someone else gets it! I don't know why so many on this site think Sandin and Lily can step in next year and play top pairing minutes. Top 4 maybe but they likely will and should be our 3rd pair. Also, I wouldn't break them up as they have great chemistry and the potential to be our top pairing in a few years if they reach their ceilings. Otherwise, they will be a great 2nd pair with Dermmy and blank as our top pair.... Rant over lol

I would send that package to CGY for Hamonic and +....( if him not willing to re-sign there rumors are true )

I wonder if Hyman + Timashov can land a decent backup ( as much i would hate to lose player as Hyman, but hes last year now and re-sign will be 4M+ i believe )

Hyman still has another year on his deal. Hamonic hasn’t been looking good. I think his trade value would be low. Still think he would fit beside Rielly and on our pk.

I agree with what you're saying but I was talking to @Ledge_And_Dairy about a possible Barrie for Hamonic swap and he suggested Barrie + Kap for Hamonic + Bennett with 12% retention on Hamonic and a 4th or Gillies from their end. I really like the idea what do you think?

It would actually be a nice effect fit for Toronto, As much as I love kapanen Bennet brings the physical play and gillies might be able to hold the pipes for us. For the flames they get a needed RW and a dman to replace hamonic but they really do need more of a shutdown guy. All in all I like the deal both ways.

My thoughts exactly! I think it would benefit both teams and would give us a chance to see how Rielly and Hamonic fit before targeting him in FA and would give him a chance to see if TOR is the right fit for him or if he has any interest in playing here. I also think Barrie could excel going back to the west and not playing afraid of making mistakes. I too really like this deal for both sides.

Hanifin and Andersen paired really well together when they tried it out, Gio is defensively responsible enough to play Barrie with him without much worry. People might say the value favors Calgary but there are some things to factor in; like how Toronto wont be resigning Barrie next year regardless (he will either not be a fit and not worth it or will turn it around and cost way too much).

I would hate to loose Bennetts toughness but I think Dube can replace him on that front so I see this as a win win for both sides

You're absolutely right about Barrie although one thin I would like to point out is we would have a more realistic shot at retaining Hamonic (not saying we will, just that we'd have a better shot). Hamoinic would get a chance to see if he would be interested in playing here and our FO would get to see how/if him and Rielly click before targeting him in FA.

People underestimate both hamonic and Bennet.

I think there are only really 3-4 teams that Hamonic will sign with next year, Calgary (if not traded), Winnipeg (obviously), Toronto (since the distance is about the same), and maybe Edmonton (but they have a lot of RD prospects already coming up).

Severely, Bennett is like Hyman but with more potential. He never worked out as the center he was drafted as and as a winger hes been blocked by Johnny and Chucky nearly his entire career (had 1 year before Tkachuk is was blocked by vets then)

Agreed, we've had this conversation before and are in agreement that his top two choices are Calgary and Winnipeg but I think this would give us a fighting chance assuming it works out.

I think his style would get a warm welcome from the fans here. Especially if he gets back to his physical style of play.
