This game of red paper clip falls short at the Florida trade.

You're gonna ask a team both starved for prospects and cheap players (given their cap situation) to take on a piece they really don't need at a price nobody should pay, just to start a chain reaction that results in the Habs getting another left wing? Why? Cause he speaks French?

Lafreniere can play C as well. If Wild has a chance on him, you can bet anything they will not move that pick...

Minny is looking for a C, not a LW? Have you looked at the wilds roster, they are looking for everything and no point would they move the their 1st round pick with how bad they are this season.
They have been stuck in mediocre forever not being bad enough for a good pick not good enough to win.

they are now into a rebuild blow it up territory

I'll give you an "A" for effort, but it's hard to imagine any of the bottom feeding teams giving up that #1 overall pick to start their rebuild, unless they are getting an established NHL star in return.

One young future super-star (Lafreniere) is more likely to fill the seats than a solid future second line (Poehling plus the other two middle first round picks)

Well its Poehling, Denisenko, 7th overall (Lapierre or Lundell) and mid first. Still really great for an offer

No doubt it's a great offer - there's a lot of value there. But if I had the #1 or #2 overall pick (assume Lafreniere and Byfield) then I would probably not move it for that offer. Just my opinion - cheers
