None of these deals make a lot of sense for the other teams.

If that's all Ottawa needs to absorb Eriksson, the deal would have been made already. We'll probably have to wait until the last 2 years of his contract to trade him or buy him out, or we could do a swap along the line of Neal - Lucic. I like the idea of targeting Nielsen in the Detroit and adding something.

Baertschi and Sutter are dead cap right now. No team is going to take close to about 7.5 million in dead cap.

Columbus has no real reason to trade for a UFA goalie right now. They're not trying to make a run this year. They also don't want to take two overpriced, mediocre forwards.

The Islanders are one of the few teams with too many RHDs. They have Pulock, Dobson, Mayfield and Boychuk with Wilde coming up. If we're moving Stetcher, I think I deal with Toronto for Kapanen makes the most sense.

That is a no from Columbus. We have no reason to want Markstrom right now unless he comes with an extension. Plus we aren’t trading our captain unless he asks to be traded.

I'll give you credit for attempting to match Columbus's needs in that proposal. The problem is, the LW need is for more of a high-end player rather than middle-6 depth. And we have no real desire to trade Foligno. Decent enough attempt, but it ultimately really doesn't work for the Jackets.
