Well you know my answer. This isn’t optimal but I think I would pull the trigger on this if we couldn’t get a better return.

After thinking it over I think there would need to be a conditional 1st if Barrie re signs. Which I think he would,

I disagree that Leafs would need a conditional 1rst round pick. This is a great trade for the Leafs on a straight up swap of both players. Stecker is a real competitor and has been mentored by both Tanev, Edler and Sedins and would be a great 4,5,6 dman. He played in the World Championships last year for Canada and is younger than Barrie. This would be a terrible trade for the Canucks and team does not have CAP room to afford Barrie.

If the Nucks don’t Re sign him then there’s no pick. Stecher is what he is. He is fully developed and as you pointed out is a number four at best.
