Yes the right side gets stronger but you have absolutely neutered your offense.

Marner had 94 points last season.

Dumba, Granlund, and Spurgeon together had less than 120. Doesn't seem like the right move.

I guess what I'm saying is that you're going to leave a big hole in your offense. You're "making up" the points in the trade, but with 3 roster spots.

I guess what I'm saying is that you're going to leave a big hole in your offense. You're "making up" the points in the trade, but with 3 roster spots.


Matthews and that top line will continue to produce. Tavares will produce, that 3rd line will produce. Granlund will as well, playing in an offensive system like Toronto would help him more. Plus a lot of offense will come from that blueline as well. There won't be a shortage of scoring, will there be as much as with Marner, probably not. Worth the risk imo. its an outside the box trade idea, but most likely won't happen.

Just because a team plays bad defense doesn't mean they play an offensive system. Leafs play a defensive system, and are bad at it.
