If hall is going to resign there, I don't see New Jersey giving up a 1st -- more likely a 1 for 1

Wont be a 1 for 1, regardless of if Hall extends or not he will cost a fortune more than Johnny for roughly the same player.

I agree that the trade probably doesn't work - lateral move for more money - but IF it were to happen - the value is closer to 1 for 1 than Johnny for Hall + 1st ++

Younger, cheaper, produces more than Hall on average. NJ adds and they should be happy to. Hall is stud but Gaudreau is just as much a stud as he is.

Taylor Hall w/ an sign-and-trade won't give Devils more than Gaudreau. If NJD trade him, they won't have the leverage. The best they can get somewhere similar to the Mark Stone trade (Erik Brannstrom type of prospect, roster player for cap and 1st round pick instead of a 2nd round pick)
