Since when is xGA the deciding factor in a player winning the Selke or not?

Bro these are the guys who base EVERYTHING off analytics. they said last year Marcus Foligno should’ve won the selke. I love Analytics but use them with common sense. Just cause ZAR xGA/60 is better than Bergeron’s doesn’t mean he’s a better defensive player lmao

I was in it earlier on page 1 and then I just gave up. They were trying to say Nylander is the best on the leafs and Nate Walker is better than HOF’ers Kopitar and Doughty. Or Hjalmerson the best on the Yotes, savard best on the Jackets, etc...

Zone starts aren't that important, like 85% of starts or smth start on the fly

Qualcomp can be skewed easily, plus i feel like skill of teammates tends to cancel that out
BKS can be used, but are rarely used
Turnover ratio is skewed by position, defensemen tend to have way more turnovers etc
Hits are bad, Hits mean you don't have the puck, and most of the time you hit, it's to chase the opponent and gets you out of position
and i completely fail to see how points measures defensive ability lol

I was saying what factors into selke.... that’s when points would come into play. You can easily say most defensive stats are skewed by teammates besides TA/GA. “You don’t have the puck” isn’t the what defense is? Defending players when you don’t have the puck? I was simply pointing out other stats that are important so we don’t only look at xGA and use that as the GOD defense metric
