What if they tanked the season and they did? I'd be totally open to tanking the season to get someone like Lafreniere.

you would have to sell off Tavares Matthews Marner Reilly Andersen Nylander in order to even get close to first pick

Nope, they'd just have to miss the playoffs and then get lucky. They're outside a wildcard spot now, so its not inconceivable.

They literally just need to rest andersen based off of their play this year. They can't win in front of their backup

I'm open to that as well. Even if we were to make the playoffs this ain't our year.

But even a top 10 pick means we get to keep our pick this year and send the hurricanes our 1st next year.

You're right that is a concern, however, the hope is Babcock gets fired and Sheldon Keefe takes over as our new bench boss (Dubas' guy). There is certainly risk but I can't see how he can't do a better job than Babs. Also, a lot will be depending on what Dubas does with our D next year, plus isn't this year's draft supposed to be a deeper draft? The main reason why I don't mind tanking for this year is I don't see this as our year and I would rather not waste assets like we did with JVR, Bozak, Komarov and Gardiner. I look at it as taking a step back too take 2 steps forward. The worst part of tanking this year is wasting a year of Andersen's contract and JT prime IMO.
