CGY and SJ pass

Created by: Eli

Description
Tor accepts, but that wasn't really the point. I realized if I only had space for one reserve, they should be a defenseman, and I thought this guy might be better than remaining UFAs? It might be close, though.

Give Backstrom 8 years at 6.3M, front loaded enough that he makes more than he could on the open market each year.

The cap works from Kuznetsov's suspension, maybe?

Yeah your right SJ passes. Holtby is not worth near that and Hagelin has sucked for a long time due to injurys.

The front loaded contract you propose for Backstrom is not allowed under the current CBA. Also, the Sharks don’t go anywhere near that, and you’re ripping yourself off on the trade with Calgary.

Thanks. Even over eight years? I thought it could change by 1M a year still. At a 6M cap hit, that could count down from 9.

Have to overpay to even unrealistically post something for a franchise player like Gaudreau.

Hagelin's offense without Crosby or Malkin has never been much to write home about. He's great on PK and a speedy shutdown wing, but SJ is all set for both, so yeah. They aren't excited about that offer.

If there's a Jones to Toronto deal in place first, maybe involving Barrie and Johnsson, something around Holtby to SJ could get interesting, but I don't even know if Kane waives his NMC to join a contender where he isn't guaranteed a top six spot, coming in.

The sharks have some serious issues on wing already so ideally we would need to have a winger back first and even then I dont think moving our best producing wing so far for a UFA goalie is smart.
