Risto was not trade in offseason because sabres got hit with injury bug. Montour, bogo, and pilut all got hurt. And now it is tough to make a trade this early in season. Trade will happen closer to deadline. Gaudreau is good player but Stone is arguably better he is one the best two way forwards in the league. And playing on good vegas team u will see his point totals go up. Even if u say stone is worse you telling me Johnny is worth basically four first and second? And three first are nhl ready and can contribute now? Stone didn’t even get a first round pick he got a good prospect.
Johnny is good player but he plays the wing, is struggling and is not a complete player. And most importantly he doesn’t play the position we really need.
Nope, Montour was injured only autumn, he was healthy, Botterill also traded for Miller, Joker and we still have solid Borgen and Fitzgerald, who could definitely play the time of the third pair. I just think that no one wanted to pay a lot for Risto, given how he played in recent years. Now that the team is already falling from the cliff, it may be too late to trade.
I do not agree with you, Johnny is the same elite winger as Stone, I did not say that Stone is a bad winger or that he is worse than Gaudreau, just an Ottawa GM idiot and received a small fee for him. Now stand in the place of GM Calgary, who, unlike Ottawa, is in win mode and not restructure and ask yourself what would you like to get for one of your best players? What contribution they are ready to make, Mittelstadt looks like bust, Thompson is a late choice of the first round and has not shown anything at all in the NHL, Risto does not cost much, his metrics are bad and he has only 2-3 pluses, especially since he is definitely not 1D.
Johnny is a great player, he plays on wing and scores 100 points, he can draw the line alone, the position that we need is another conversation, but we need players for all positions, because now our team sucks and lost almost 10 games in a row.
