Why would Calgary make this deal, are they really going to tank?

That is way overpayment and if the price is that high I would stay far away. You will set the team back years and then he will be gone. Giving up you #1 dman, future 2nd line center, future top six prospect, a first in a loaded draft and a second. Wow that is ridiculous.

An offersheet for an elite player would be less then that.

What a hell? Risto not #1 dman only here he can be number one and play for 25 minutes. Mittelstadt has not yet proved that he can be a solid 2C, so far I see an intermediate 3C, and considering how our organization “develops young talents well”, it may still remain a player for bottom 6, Thompson has not yet proved anything in the NHL, he is certainly an interesting player, but not an elite prospect. If Calgary agreed to this deal, which I don’t believe, then I would have made it 10 out of 10 times from Buffalo.

Because having in your top 6 Eichel, Skinner, Gaudreau, Reinhart, Johansson and Olofsson it will be very difficult not to get into the playoffs even if you do not have a coach.

One I said he is sabres number dman. Mittlestadt is still unable to drink so let’s pump the breaks on him being bottom six guy. He may not be a number one center but he has all the tools to be great number two. Tage is also young and has played great in ahl and would still be in nhl if he didn’t get hurt.

Look at the mark stone trade at deadline. He is better player and got a lot less on a sign trade. Why he is magically worth that much. You are adding to strength of the sabres left wing and weaken our worst position. Without an assets to get better now or next year. To expect cozen to jump to number two is crazy.

Risto's value is apparently not very high, given that he is still in the team after asking for a trade in the summer. Mittelstadt is now playing in bottom 6 with marginal players, how can he develop there at all? Either put it 2C, or on the wing in the top 6, or trade it or send it to Rochester. I'm not so high on Mitts, I like Cozens more.

I don’t think a Stone is better than Gaudreau, also one particular deal does not always fit the comparison. Gaudreau this is Jack Eichel is only on the wing, he can draw his line. The guy scored 100 points last season, he has a 6,5M contract for another three years, he is not old and not traumatic, he is an elite will for have to pay a lot. And you say here that Risto, Mitts and Thompson are some special players who can easily return the elite, I do not agree and I would have made this deal if there was an opportunity.

Risto was not trade in offseason because sabres got hit with injury bug. Montour, bogo, and pilut all got hurt. And now it is tough to make a trade this early in season. Trade will happen closer to deadline. Gaudreau is good player but Stone is arguably better he is one the best two way forwards in the league. And playing on good vegas team u will see his point totals go up. Even if u say stone is worse you telling me Johnny is worth basically four first and second? And three first are nhl ready and can contribute now? Stone didn’t even get a first round pick he got a good prospect.

Johnny is good player but he plays the wing, is struggling and is not a complete player. And most importantly he doesn’t play the position we really need.

Nope, Montour was injured only autumn, he was healthy, Botterill also traded for Miller, Joker and we still have solid Borgen and Fitzgerald, who could definitely play the time of the third pair. I just think that no one wanted to pay a lot for Risto, given how he played in recent years. Now that the team is already falling from the cliff, it may be too late to trade.

I do not agree with you, Johnny is the same elite winger as Stone, I did not say that Stone is a bad winger or that he is worse than Gaudreau, just an Ottawa GM idiot and received a small fee for him. Now stand in the place of GM Calgary, who, unlike Ottawa, is in win mode and not restructure and ask yourself what would you like to get for one of your best players? What contribution they are ready to make, Mittelstadt looks like bust, Thompson is a late choice of the first round and has not shown anything at all in the NHL, Risto does not cost much, his metrics are bad and he has only 2-3 pluses, especially since he is definitely not 1D.

Johnny is a great player, he plays on wing and scores 100 points, he can draw the line alone, the position that we need is another conversation, but we need players for all positions, because now our team sucks and lost almost 10 games in a row.
