I don't really think there is enough here medically to go off of to even think of making any trades like this.

Brodie will be back, and when he's healthy he's better than Schultz

Hornqvist may get hurt a lot, but he's a really good play driver and it'd be better for Calgary to get him and a pick for Brodie rather than lose him for nothing

If I'm Calgary, I'm saying no to that deal. Why would I take on a higher cap hit in exchange (not only that, but on IR at the moment)?

That’s a massive underpay for Schultz...let alone a retained Schultz. He could fetch a 1st at the deadline without retention. He’s exactly what teams overpay for.

As for the Calgary trade, Brodie just collapsed at practice and too much of a risk to trade for since he is a pending UFA. I also don’t think Calgary wants to take on a contract like Hornqvist either. So I’d say that’s probably a no from both sides.
