Why would Toronto assume it’s a cap dump if your trying to acquire him? Not to mention that he’s probably been their best RHD. Folin is just bad. Toronto says no easily.

Well, it goes along with the other transactions that I posted. Folin is a good and cheap #7 option for Toronto and the other deals I posted includes Toronto getting Benning. Ceci just plays the most minutes out of their RD, Holl has been the best in his role, even though it's smaller. The trade isn't about Montreal acquiring him as much as it is about Leafs dumping him.

Ceci has less than 60 games left in his contract, there's no need for leafs to pay a team a 2nd to move him

I think it depends on if they are competing this year. IF so, then they have to make some moves immediately (and needing to dump cap to make those moves), because they are already falling into trouble of making the playoffs. If not, then just wait it out for Ceci's contract.

a team like Winnipeg for example may take Ceci without any pick coming back their way though. if they move Ceci I dont think they'll have to pay an asset.

Maybe true. I hear Ceci has been awful, maybe I am hearing from the wrong people.
