Drastic change of the roster

Created by: Gordon_Bombay
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 20, 2019
Published: Nov. 20, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Probably not enough for the two Carolina players, but I would even add more picks if needen. Carolina is very deep on the back end and would probably be a contender as well for years to come by adding Marner. Would give the Leafs some flexibility to resign Muzin as a first priority and also Barrie and Mikheyev

Even if they would want to (they super mega don't), Carolina doesn't have anywhere near the cap for that.

Svechnikov > Marner
Also, things are going well for Carolina, so they wouldn't want a "change-up."

Re-signing Muzzin and Barrie are probably not "top priority" for the Leafs right now, considering how well they are both playing (and playing especially poorly together).

I don't see any of the Leafs big 4 forwards going anywhere, they will be hard to fit into the salary cap of another team and it's tough to get value back for those guys.

No way Carolina has any interest in Cody Ceci, and paying them draft picks is nonsense. Why would a contending team want draft picks? Do you want the Leafs to trade away a top player for a bunch of draft picks? Of course not, draft picks are only good currency if the team wants them. Assuming those Leaf picks are towards the second half of those rounds (big assumption right now) they are not worth very much.

I think trading Marner should be the top priority.

Muzzin is a good player. I don't think the Leafs have an internal solution to replace him and you will always overpay for good free agent Ds.

I think it is more likely that the Leafs picks are going to be between 12-18 in each round.

Picks are always good. Contenders can add depth with picks. and picks are easier to trade than players.
