They'd have to consider it if it was Marner and Kap for Tkachuk and Homanic. I'd have to look into the costs but it does give Calgary a lot more long term stability and a pretty big upgrade at forward. I think TO would still need to take back one other contract to balance the cap space but its a trade that I think both teams could walk away from being pretty happy. I doubt it would even be discussed by either team but if something around Marner for Tkachuk is tabled I think its going to be essentially a 1 for 1 and a cap dump going to TO to balance the cap. Something like Tkachuk and Ryan for Marner.

Personally i prefer Tkachuk over Marner. I think he brings more to the table and has a more unique skill set (Flames already have Lindholm for what Marner does). The main issue with this trade is Andersson being involved. Hes simply not for trade, Flames currently have 3 RD (4 including Brodie) but every single one of them is a free agent next year. Andersson being a RFA is the only insurance the team has on the right side the

Yeah I posted a trade earlier that was Marner for Tkachuk and Ryan. I think that is the only way to make a trade like this work. Many fans like adding a bunch of stuff because it excites them. Marner is definitely the better player between him and Tkachuk and honeslty I think the big draw for Calgary should be the long term contract. Marner makes too much probably but in 3 years Tkachuk will ask for the moon, his back loaded contract gives him so much power in the next negotiation. Getting out from that could make sense to a GM who is thinking long term.
