No GM would be anxious to part with their 1st, particularly in a deep draft in mid November. With that, the Senators will want maximum value for Pageau, however their recent competitiveness and success, must at least entertain the thought this club can push for a playoff spot.
Even if a 1st, was offered in mid November, the Senators would be hard pressed to accept it for fearing it could damage the chemistry. If the club remains competitive, and is still an earshot from making the playoffs by the TDL, it will be interesting what they will do.
It is kind of what happened to Vegas in their first year. There were players which could have been moved, but deals were avoided to keep chemistry and make a push in the playoffs. The difference with Ottawa is they are in a rebuild, and there will be movement at the TDL, regardless of their placement in the standings.
This deal offered would need to be amended. A team in a rebuild has no use for a 32 year old forward. Move Komarov some place else. Pass on the 5th. A 1st and prospect (Bellows or Quenneville) would make this deal happen.
