Description
I think Oilers will wait until they get exactly what they want for JP. Idk what they want for sure or even if the Oilers know for sure what they want, but asset management is important. Doubt he gets moved before December 1st and could see them waiting until the draft unless a team like MIN will move fiala for him. They need depth scoring and I saw Preds fans were talking about needing to bolster the third pairing which Benning can do. I'd put Granlund in, instead of the fourth if they want. Manning, Jones, and Persson can rotate through next to Russell. Benning trade is once he's healthy and if Preds are still struggling.

I don't think the Preds will part with either of those guys. They are both budget guys who accomplish much and are fan and team favourites who can play in many roles. Craig Smith might? be on the block?

TO won't move Petan unless its for a pick, they probably would rather dump the contract than pick up a player they would just send to the marlies anyways.

I'd do Smith for Benning straight up

Why? You're trying to get a defensive center, Smith is neither defensive nor a center.

Benning makes too much for a #6 defenseman. Maybe add a 7th rounder, because Salomaki is UFA next season, but yeah - Benning isn't worth more than a 4th line forward.

Depends, could use a winger as well and I don't see Benning as a long term option. So gotta move him at some point

And Benning is an RFA. Salomaki is a healthy scratch/minors.

Benning is essentially a UFA, because qualifying him next season at $2M would be madness. Trading Sissons, Jarnkrok or Smith for him would be garbage asset management for the Preds. Nashville has a lot of bottom six depth, but Salomaki could be a regular bottom six player in EDM for cheap.

Benning is worth a 2nd round pick. Salomaki + a 7th doesn't come close.

But for a pending UFA winger who has scored 2 goals so far this season? Doesn't make sense to me.
