Marner is better. They play a different style though. If you consider the contract, Nylander is on a way better deal

It's all relative.

Nylander is more versatile but not as tenacious in his own zone. Talent wise they are pretty close. Marner the better passer but Nylander the better shot.

Nylander is faster but Marner is more shifty.

I think they are close to the same but Marner did score 94 points so that gives him the edge.

Yes, I agree. Nylander is quicker with a better shot, whereas Marner has better vision, agility and puck handling skills. I do think away from the puck, Marner is better. A lot of Nylander fans like to dismiss Marner's 94 point season like it was nothing.

If you go looking for hot takes, they are always easy to find. The reality is, both players are terrific. Troll nation loves to chirp them both and many of the most vocal leaf fans (or fans in general) are often idiots that listen to idiots and then say what those idiots say without having a real clue how anything is played.

The 94 point season was not nothing. It's something, just take it with a grain of salt knowing who Marner's C was/is. As @LoganOllivier broke it down point by point, the edge goes to Marner.

Nylander. He is on a better contract.
Not factoring in contracts, Marner was a lot better last year, not as good this year. It's a hard call, but I will give it to Marner.

You are right, both players are terrific, but some of the ignorant fans on Leafs nation divide them.

Yeah, just factoring their skill level and individual abilities.

Well, we have to remember as well that not every player is capable of scoring 94 points even when they play on a line with a John Tavares caliber player. I think it's fair to say that Tavares helped Marner achieve 94 points, but Marner also helped Tavares score 50 goals.

And that's why I said 94 points is not nothing. Tavares has made a career out of making his wingers look better than they really are. That said, Marner is very talented.

Yes Marner might be the most talented winger Tavares has had.

I think in a few years both players could look to have pretty decent deals.

Marner. More consistent. Shows up in the playoffs a little better. Usually gets over 30 points a year.

Marner by a large margin. Marner is better playmaker, maybe even a better goal scorer and better defensively. Nylander gains the blue line quite well, but then does the perimeter circling with the puck. It just isn't that productive though. His offensive ice possession as never resulted in superior offensive totals for himself or line mates.
