No.

Nylander > Gaudreau (and by > I mean of higher value)
Barrie = Hamonic
Johnsson = Bennett (at worst)

So I wouldn't do this even if Liljegren weren't included. Among other things, Toronto needs long-term help at RD (read: Rasmus Andersson), not another UFA.

I think trading for Barrie is a big mistake -- he's a player that Calgary can't afford next season.

Going to have to strongly disagree that Nylander holds higher value than Gaudreau, a 99-point player last season in his prime, on an incredible contract for another few years.

My opinion (and it's just that) is that because Nylander is signed for two more years than Gaudreau at effectively the same cap hit and is three years younger (and therefore may not have shown his ceiling yet), his value is higher. I'm not saying that he's the better player; and I'm also not getting into the allegation that "Gaudreau doesn't show up in the playoffs." Your opinion is certainly valid.

Fair enough. Nylander needs to show a 70+ point season for me to start valuing him higher. I think he's going to get some different looks and ice time -- as will Matthews -- without Babcock behind the bench, which will be very interesting for understanding what level of player Nylander could be. If he doesn't push through 70 points this year or next, everyone should be pretty disappointed.

I'd do it if I'm the Leafs.. I'd try to sign Hamonic though.
