Time to dump talent

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 19, 2019
Published: Nov. 20, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm sure I'll get roasted for this, but every once in a while you get some good discussion out of this.
I am aware that Zucker and Stastny have M-NTC's. I'm sure Zucker would wave his Stastny would probably need some form of persuasion to come to MN.
I don't believe this makes the Wild a better team right now, but does provide young talent and draft picks for the future.
Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Larsson, Johan
  2. Ristolainen, Rasmus
  3. Sobotka, Vladimír
  4. 2020 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Wild get big young right shot D and a 1st round pick. Everything else is cap balance.
BUF
  1. Brodin, Jonas
  2. Fiala, Kevin
  3. Staal, Eric
Additional Details:
Sabres get A good young skilled wing, a vetran leader #2C who has a very team friendly contract. Last but not least, a top pair defenseman.
2.
MIN
  1. Elvenes, Lucas
  2. Stastny, Paul
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
Not really sure if this is fair value but would help the VGKs in playoffs. If you don't like the trade feel free to make a better offer.
3.
MIN
  1. Carpenter, Ryan
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (CHI)

Don't see why Vegas would make that trade.

The line of Zucker-Glass-Tuch looked good to me. Stastny is 33 so they get a bit younger and keep playoff window open longer.

I'd put Nylander at center. I've seen about 10 games of him at center over the past couple years and I've always felt he looks more natural there than at wing. Plus, he's solid on faceoffs (yes, he usually takes faceoffs on his strong side but he wins them way more often than not which is something). I do think a Dumba for Nylander trade would involve the Leafs adding more, especially if Ceci is in the picture. Maybe a swap like Dumba + young forward (Donato, Greenway, maybe even Fiala if Toronto adds more) for Nylander + Liljegren. I'm spitballing, but something like that.

I agree getting Ceci is like getting nothing back, but if you ask for a fair trade out TOR you are often times told that your nuts or something much harsher. Also I like your idea of using Nylander at center I think it would make for more favorable line combos.

Vegas maybe hesitant on pulling the trigger here; they're still close to the cap.

Wild have some room, so if that was the hold up I'm sure Vegas could dump some salary in MN if needed.

I kinda like the idea of Dumba and Donato for Nylander, Liljegren and either Nicolas Robertson or Jeremy Bracco, depending upon whether you want a leftie or a rightie.

I don't like the Buffalo trade unless that pick is a top 10. I'm a Ristolainen fan, but I can't see his trade value being that high. I have long thought he and Brodin would make an ideal pairing...one swift-skating, puck-moving, defensive-minded LHD and the other a big, mean, and nasty, offensive-minded RHD. I think it could be amazing. I would pull Brodin out of that deal and make the 1st top 10 protected and call it good. I think Staal for a top 10 protected 1st with the Wild taking those two contracts is close to a fair deal...especially if Buffalo rights its ship and becomes a contender again.

I would only take Stastny if I believed I could flip him for prospects or picks. He doesn't fit what the Wild should be doing.

Ideally I would like to flip him as well.
