Created by: Ledge_And_Dairy
Team: 2019-20 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 21, 2019
Published: Nov. 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
He wont be traded but for the sake of argumen, to acquire one of the leagues premium offensive talents on a sweetheart contract for thia amd the next 2 years it will cost:
- 1 solid top 6 forward
- 1 A to A+ level prospect
- 1st (ideally 2020 with like top 5 protection)

*One of either the top 6 forward or the prospect has to be a Center
*If the prospect is a defense they have to be a lottery protected RD
*Depending on the status of the prospect (if elite) and/or if another prospect is added the 1st could be a 2nd instead.

Gaudreau is one of the leagues best talents offensively and is only in a slump. Unless he publicly asks for a trade this will be the cost

What about Domi + Poehling + 2021 1st
Not 2020 because draft is in MTL so they probably want to keep it.

Or only with prospect :
Poehling (C) + Juuslen (RD) + Lehkonen (Top 9) + 2021 1st

I agree that this would be the asking price but can't see any teams putting together a package like this which is why he is probably staying until next year where he will be a rental

1st one is decent, would much prefer Kotki though to Poehling and would aim to make that happen
2nd one is pretty subpar

I was meaning more on the lines of a charlie coyle type of deal. I think teams are starting to look at paying a bit more for a 1.25 year rental situation than just the one year. Kind of a rental/standard trade hybrid

See that’s why I thought a package of Nolan Patrick and Oskar Lindblom would be perfect for Gaudreau. Not sure if it’s an overpayment in the eyes of Philly or if they could make it work cap wise but if I’m Calgary I take that deal.

Patrick has really struggled, and Lindblom isnt super enticing as flames dont really need LW at all. Trade would start with Konecny and/or Frost since Couts is likely off the table

I would get even more specific. It would be one top 6 right winger, one A rhd prospect with some development and a 1st.

From Toronto you would be getting Kapanen, liljegren a 2021 1st and 2020 3rd (3rd to make up for the lack of first this year and the weakness of the kappy Lilly package)

Toronto wouldnt work at all, they have no cap and wont part with their top players

How would CGY fans feel of a package of:

Connor Sheary, Ristolainen, 2019 1st Top 5 Protected, 2020 Cond 2nd (Turns to 2021 1st if BUF Makes Playoffs in 2020-2021)

- 1 solid top 6 forward = James Neal
- 1 A to A+ level prospect = Ryan McLeod
- 1st (ideally 2020) = 2020 1st round pick (EDM)

... and maybe we'll even throw Jesse Puljujarvi into the deal!

laugh
