Eichel- Matthews Who says no What would you change

Created by: ek_65
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 21, 2019
Published: Nov. 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously some little tweaks may need to be made for equal value for both teams, but do think trade could help both sides.

- Auston Matthews is and will be a better offensive player than Jack Eichel. But, Eichel brings an element different than Tavares and Matthews that I would think helps the team.

- Kap goes to Buffalo and helps out their top 6. Montour can play in the top 4 (major upgrade over Ceci) and is an RFA at years end (Dubas should try to get a fair contract in place before he makes the trade haha)

It would certainly provide TO with a more stable cap situation over the next 6 years. That being said, I think Matthews has so many more tools to utilize over Eichel.

In my opinion, if you're gonna run the 1A, 1B centre situation they should be different types of players. Tavares and Matthews are both elite offensive centreman. Eichel may not be as electric as Matthews but produces at a similar ppg (AM 0.99 ppg, JE 0.93PPG). Eichel can bring that nasty element to his game that Toronto would benefit.

Matthews > Eichel and Kapanen is going to be dynamite if Keefe lets him play in the top 6 where he belongs.

Oh come on, Eichel isn't a tough player by any stretch. The difference between him and Matthews is one is more of a playmaker and the other a goal scorer. But Matthews is also a playmaker which is why Matthews has so many more tools.
