Nylander has been one of the best players on the Leafs all year but I agree, he's going to get more opportunities under Keefe.

Nylander has already improved drastically. But I believe Barrie will become the player we knew he would be for us.

Freddie held them in at the beginning, to bad they had a usual defensive mistake in the last minute to lose the shutout.

Barrie can only get better, he is to talented to not put up points. He should play with some more confidence now.

To early to see if the Leafs will get back to a playoff team, they had a lot of jump after the coaching change

Nylander has a shot like Kessel and his creativity and puck skills are world-class.

What are your thoughts on Cody Ceci? He seems trash to me.

That is all just mob mentality. Ceci is one of those players that has a reputation that is partially undeserved. He was a 1st rounder that never really panned out. What he is, is a above average bottom pair defenceman who can survive in a middle pair role. He's been asked to be a top pair guy and can't do it. So the perception is he is trash. Used incorrectly is the better way to look at it.

A broken play where a blocked shot ends up on a guys stick back door isn't really a bad defensive miscue, its just bad luck. I think its funny to hear people still saying the Leafs defense is atrocious. From pretty much every conceivable metric, TO was the better team last night and this was against one of the best defensive teams in the NHL. They dominated possession wise, held a massive advantage in shot attempts and high danger chances, and looked much more engaged in their own zone. Seeing Nylander break up a pass to the slot was icing on the cake. Keefe's system stresses holding onto the puck and defending the slot. Two things that Bab's system didn't really employ much. The team will get better defensively as they get more accustomed to the new style.

I'm surprised Keefe is still giving him a shot on the top pairing.

My guess is Keefe doesn't want to do too much too soon. Let guys keep some level of comfort while implementing changes to the system and structure. Then toy with lineup changes.
