Depending on Picks, I think Montreal would be interested. NYR would be selling him low, So I believe Bergevin would be all over it.

Yea they’d have to sell him for like a 2nd and a prospect

If you have the Rangers trading for Kovalchuk, they'd ask the Kings to retain part of his salary.

Lias for Pulju in my mind would be a big mistake. Sending Lias to the A does not mean to give up on him; still think he could contribute at the NHL level if you encourage him and coach him. EDM will never be able to use Puljujarvi; they ruined that relationship with him. EDM really does not have a ton of leverage in a trade.

I also notice that EDM needs more LHD prospects outside of Broberg. I think with the plethora of LHD the rangers have, they could send one of those kids along with a second or a third for Puljujarvi without sacrificing a potential top 9 center. Center prospects are valuable, and if you can afford to hold onto them, you should. He just turned 21; there is still time to develop.

I think the Sjkei trade would make sense, but I would wait to do it (like the Pulju trade). Trading him before the expansion draft could be a savvy move.

U have to understand that lias will never be better than a bottom 6 guy. And with the way our system works he’ll never get a chance. Along with this we have some really solid center prospects coming up so we don’t need him anymore.. I’d rather save picks which could turn into much better prospects and send lias and let him have a chance in edm. We just don’t need him anymore

By the end of the season they could be. Also it’s lottery so they can get lucky like every other team... let’s say they get 7th worst place again.....

Even if you are right about Lias, it's not worth trading him for a player EDM cannot even use. I never said to keep him forever; I am only saying it would be a waste to move him in this deal. It should not cost that much at this point. EDM will have to come down from their asking price.

I have heard that approx 22% of second rounders are successful at the NHL level, and I think NYR should be getting picks back in a Kreider deadline deal, and hopefully NYR sell high on Strome, too, so a pick could be moved and it would not change much.

We disagree on the value of Lias. He could be a cheap bottom 6 center for years to come, and I think that's fine. I see no problem in having him as a third line center in the future, and NYR pays him a cheap AAV. I do not see a problem with that. If you really think NYR do not need him that's fine, but you could use him as a trading piece in a better situation.

Having panarin + Lundqvist makes that almost impossible. I think the rangers will finish between 7-9. Without panarin , then yeah I think they would finish bottom 5. Red wings, senators ,devils , wild, kings, blue jackets will definitely finish with a worse record than the rangers.
