It's unclear whether Casey is any better than Lias at this point...

I mean the difference is that Casey hasn't had any success despite given every chance to succeed and PP time and Lias hasn't had success being stapled to the 4th line with AHL/ECHL level linemates despite continuously showing he deserves better.

Over the last 10 games.

Casey: 0 points 4 Shots on Goal 107 Mins
Lias: 1 Point 6 Shots on Goal 75 Mins.

I think there's more likely a trade to be made for Miller. Something like Hajek for Miller...maybe a pick swap.

What I think with Mittelstadt- Andersson, both get to hit the reset button, take the pressure off, if they spend some time in the minors its ok, theirs not that pressure from the fan base to perform, just learn what you need to improve then work back up. Hajek does nothing for Buffalo, its not what theyre looking for. They need to focus on improving their forwards

The Hajek move gets you much younger without sacrificing much talent and opens up 3 mil of cap room so you can .... pursue a forward.

They dont need to get younger on the back end they still got kids in the A that are waiting for a spot to graduate into. I dont know if botts is worried about cap rn, and Okposo may be IRd for the rest of the year so it wont even matter

Thats also a good point, Fox, DeAngelo, Trouba, where is Miller going. Scandella's available if you need LD help

Why does Columbus need Risto? They have Jones and Savard in top 4.

I thought that too, but theirs 6 d spots 3 per side, and enough minutes to go around

I don’t know, it seems to me they will want a goalie or a left winger, maybe a young center.

Relating to all the talk above, for simplicity's sake, Lias = Casey is pretty fair at this point. So I think just focusing on Kreider for Sheary and a first is a better exercise, which imo NYR should accept.

Actually do not think it's so crazy, if you're low on Hajek (which I think it's too soon to be). Miller has a cap hit that will likely be less than what a Deangelo extension would be. Would not be a terrible decision to acquire Miller and move Deangelo after the season for more assets. In the meanwhile, you could have Deangelo or Miller play the left side; both have done so before.

that's definitely a trade to consider. that first could be in the 18-22 range. good players in that range.

I like the Kreider trade from a Ranger POV because it could lead to a pick in a 6-10 range, rather than what you would get from a trade to a cup contender. The Lias/Casey part of it could go either way but the change might do them both good.

Hajek been the teams best LD, that's not saying much but still the case. i believe in Hajek. If the rangers do decide to trade deangelo they would get more for him at the deadline then in the summer. keane and lungvist are going to be battling for a spot next season or the season after. both player are NHL caliber prospects, also both RD.

Yessir. There's also Reunanen on the right side. NYR have plenty of defensemen on the pipeline that they could use in packages for better assets or needs.

That makes sense for the Rangers but for the Sabres it doesnt. If youre that low on him hes not beating out Pilut then, who hasnt supplanted Scandella, who is also sharing time with Miller, and they have Gilmour and Bogosian as depth dman. The Sabres D isnt a worry for them

Oh no I do not think people should be low on Hajek, but some may be.

This is 100% a no from Columbus. We have no need for Risto... he’d be our 3rd pair RHD....Jones and Savard are both much better then he is in their own zone.
