First, Sergachev is not being traded. He is a future too 4 dman who is only 21 and once again showing improvement this season. He is easily better than Cernak so far this season and with Shattenkirk being a 1 year player for us, there is no reason at all to trade one of Tampa's top 4 dmen going forward. Also, trading him, Joseph and a 1st for two rentals is pathetic, as crippling future depth for one run is what bad GM's do. Thankfully Tampa has a solid to good GM, so no worries. Hamonic is also not worth it as he will also not resign in Tampa(as he has family in western Canada and likely only wants to play near them) and Calgary won't trade those guys for that package anyway.
I hope we can resign Shatty at least 1 more year under 2.5 mill...
Agree Serg stays unless he demands the big bucks, which he doesn't deserve( like 4.25 mill$ +).
No way Cernak 1.5 mill $ to topic opener, you're dreaming dude... he is worth much more... that would be a Labanc deal... don't look at point totals...
Defense player = need to be good at defending, except when u r producing 80+ points like not a lot of players, then the points matter.... usually it's the forwards who carries the D points totals... yes u can't be on Girardi's grandpa level, but if you're really decent and u play 24/7 Kucherov/Point, you will get a lot of points by default... + powerplay ofc...
Cernak = Big and physical and really good at defending = can demand good money and lots of years if we can afford... like 4mill+ $ x 7 years or smth like that, or a bridge deal is fine for 3 mill $ +... anyone who watches our games can tell you that cernak is really good in almost every game... when we lose we don't lose because of him... yes he lately lost his points mojo, but it can come back... around 20 points is fine... in 70-75 games...
PS: The last team in whole
who offersheets us is
