HOW DID HE BECOME A UFA?!
this is 2020-21

I also got an 88 ovr Backstrom and then traded him for an 87 ovr Nylander

The NHL games have a lot of flaws in them in terms of not understanding the CBA. That said, are you sure you gave him a qualifying offer?

Haha, I figured this had to be NHL 20...

I've got Josh Ho-Sang on my Seattle franchise (I'm in the playoffs), and if I want to extend him, he wants $5 mil/year, after a 19-21-40 pts season. They've definitely done some work to overhaul the contracts, but they're definitely still pretty fuc-ky.

My top drafted rookie put up 117 pts in his first season...I'll be extremely curious to see what he asks for when I get the chance to extend him.

"I had to offer Domi this much." No you don't. He's a RFA, really all you have to offer is the what another team would offer him as a RFA Heck the superior...let's even call them equal,, Aho signed for 8.5m.
Only if your GM is Dubas (and other Leaf management) do you way overpay your own RFAs.
