It means they're doing their jobs. You know, because they're scouts?

Pretty sure they said on headlines that they’re scouting each other pretty heavily

If Babs was the coach I could see him pushing dubas to look into it. But he’s not. As much as I like Burtuzzo he is not a dubas or keefe player. I could very well be wrong though.

Bortuzzo shouldn't be in the league, let alone a guy the Leafs should target.

Blues have a long history of moving star players on expiring contracts. It's Pietro

Trading Stastny and Shattenkirk while the team is out of the playoffs is a lot different than trading Pietrangelo when the team is first in the west and retained an entire championship squad.

That would be my thought also. Like I said to STLBlues17 I can't see Army scouting the leafs if it's a small trade. When STL was in Tor earlier this season it was said that they where going to meet with his representatives about an extension. Maybe those talks didn't go anywhere? I wonder who we woild trade though.... Got any thoughts?

Where were they when they moved Oshie? Thought that was a playoff year no? And Stastny trade was when you were in contention for a spot (you lost in last game iirc).
To answer the why bit: Asset management. If you can get the right return that doesn't compromise the now while setting up for the future and you like your other options (Faulk and Paryko) there is a cutthroat logic to it.

Offseason, and they traded Stastny after a 7 game losing streak

Even so, the history of strict asset management plus team needs and surpluses does lend to that being the most likely considering the heavy amount of scouting.

In terms of return that would make sense, For a rental I'd imagine Kapanen and Liljegren for Piet and a good prospect (worse than Lily).

Actually I think Kap and Bracco might make more sense for the Blues assuming Piet comes with a depth add on or something else coming back as well.

Ok he has crossed the line but if he shouldn’t be in the League. Neither should Kadri, all of the enforcers, Marchand, and others, but they aren’t it’s apart of the game to get heated.

Idk, I’d rather just take another run at the cup unless it’s an awesome package

Blues are doing well in the west why would they give up Pietro for what Toronto is only interested in doing Spare Parts.

That’s basically the Blues doing a favor that’s a significant downgrade. Toronto fans can only dream, but you aren’t looking at it from a Blues point of view. Why would they do that if they are still in Contention. Blues have only ever traded Rentals when they have fallen off which was 1 non playoff season and the other one was very close to non playoff and they came off a 8 Game losing streak.

There is crossing the line, and then there is intent to injure on multiple occasions. This is the latter while Kadri, Marchand, etc are the former. I'd argue that Lucic is getting close to the should be out of the league (from a disciplinary perspective) too.

Who says it would only be spare parts? Piet as a rental could return something nice and have conditional picks if we re-sign him (not likely to happen but still). I'd imagine Kap and Bracco make the most sense as a starting point considering the Leafs don't have a 1st this year.

I understand this mentality. I have the same one (with Gards and JVR/Bozie). It just seems like Army tends to go the more asset management side of things.
