ANA definitely passes, Djoos isn't good, and BOG has a pretty high upside

Maybe. But they're in 9th in the West. Michael Del Zotto got power play time and 23 minutes in one night on his off side against the Caps last week, with the Caps up by one goal. Djoos is a better puck carrier when a team needs a goal, on either side of the ice, than MDZ. Caps could add a late pick, though, to turn their strength in LHD into overall good prospect depth.

Djoos got 7 points in a 15 game stretch last year. He's got about a dozen this year in the AHL. I don't think he's a big shutdown guy, but when Trotz needed a goal, he'd give Djoos 18 minutes a night. When he had a lead, Djoos got 9 or 10, and the right side was just Niskanen and Carlson.

Yeah, but the price for Djoos shouldn't be one of ANA's more promising C specs...

Nobody said anything about Steel, Lundestrom, or Zegras. Djoos has won a Cup, playing all but the first game of the playoffs at 3RD, next to Orpik.

Maybe the Caps throw in a forward prospect like Clark or Sutter, based on age and hope, but there's still no guarantee Groulx ever makes the NHL. The Ducks, with Djoos, stay in the playoff hunt.

Edit: If the Caps add one of those other recent 2nd round forwards to this, do you think the Ducks consider throwing in, like, a 4th?

Thanks. I think that could be a big win for each side. Galchenyuk gets Eller scoring goals. Hagelin gets back into stride next to Malkin. Panik gets 20 goals a year next to Crosby.

The NHL guys the Pens are getting can be really good penalty killers, too, so I helped myself to some good forward prospects. smile

doubtful.

Both those contracts run a long time. Chucky expires and they move on. Probably best move here.

I remember in the offseason when every caps fan thought the Tanev signing was so bad and WSH got a steal signing Panik and that's how it was "suppose" to be done.
Then they resigned Hags longer term, when he's already 31 and not able to score. That's like 5+ million in dead cap space for washington for a few years. The penguins would never take that away from you.

Pens PK is like 3rd in the league so we don't care about getting good penalty killers, Hagelin's production has basically dried up don't want him or contract. Panik has 1 point in 15 games, he would be sent to WBS with those numbers so we'll pass. Your "prospect" is probably a bust at this point. I think we will chucky and our prospects. Thanks but no thanks

Okay. FWIW, I thought the Hagelin signing, and the Burakovsky trade for picks, were calamities, and I thought the Galchenyuk trade was absolutely brilliant. It seemed like Kessel's goal scoring had to be a product of playing with Crosby and Malkin, or of feasting on weak competition behind them at other times. I was sure Galchenyuk would be on pace for 40 goals this year.

Instead, Burakovsky is. Ah well. smile

Tanev's been a nice surprise, yeah?

I don't think Johansen was drafted to score points. His pre-draft year numbers weren't great, but scouts talked about his defensive positioning and his skating. I don't think he's going to be a superstar, but I still think he'll play. But if there's a recent Caps' 2nd like Clark or Sutter you'd rather have, this random fan thinks Johansen is more valuable than them, and would be happy to offer you less? smile I mean, are you criticizing a recent Caps' first pick just to annoy a rival, or because the trade is within hagglin' distance?

See what I did there? smile

Tanev is Tanev. I liked what little I saw of him in WPG, so I like what I see in his play with the penguins now. It's his speed and motor. Got to like guys like that, and he hangs around enough till he helps out a goal here and there. If he was a more "polished"guy aka had a better shot, he'd be a top 6 winger somewhere, but he's not. But teams need fast physical grinding kind of guys to win.
