Gee, don't see how this makes the Leafs better this year at all. Losing three regulars including two Dmen and getting just one Dman in return.. Then losing all those controllable years of those young players hurts the future. Is Parayko the golden grail that is going to Leafs to the Cup?

Parayko is not worth 3 NHL regulars, 2 being young guys with high up side and a top prospect as well and an above average bottom pair defenceman. It's like he won the Norris or something. He didn't, he's great but let's calm down on thinking he's the 2nd coming of Bobby Orr

You can't compare Parayko to Muzzin, Parayko is MUCH MUCH MUCH better, and way younger... he's a legit#1 RD, and you're trading some middle 6 forwards/second pairing d men, and a cap dump for him, in the NHL quality>>>>>>>>>quantity

Meh I think you roll the dice sometimes. If Sandin can play and they think they are resigning Muzzin it's not so bad letting Dermott go. Then Ceci is done at the end of the year anyway, he won't be back. Taking Allen is an anchor, and losing Liljigren sucks. It's how trades work though, can't be one sided

Allen is a way bigger cap dump than Ceci so that hurts the Parayko value. He's got term left after this year

Maybe you should keep reading to where I said he's better. Or just keep on going with your head up your ass, whatever works

You compared him to Muzzin and I’m the one with my head up my ass. Pot calling the kettle black.

There are a few Leafers on this site who simply cannot see straight through their blue goggles.

Allen is trash, pass.

I still think there is grounds for Blues and Leafs trade.

I was thinking of Parayko, Sundqvist and Barbashev for Kapanen, Ceci+ but gave up trying to make it work.

There may be a trade there but, it will not involve Parayko. The Blues, by their actions have sent a pretty clear message that they are moving on from Pietrangelo. My thinking is that they either keep him for another cup run and let him walk in the offseason or try and move him for the best package that they can get before the deadline.

I'm not sure if the Leafs would be interested in a rental, although a very high calibre one.

Part of the reason that I'm excited to see what Keefe brings to the leafs is his conitunual hinting at playing 5 man units to their strengths. The hope here is that by approaching the game as a team game and coaching to the strength of a team it can bring results and takes things away from the misplaced importance of how the name on the back of the sweater changes everything .

Also, the islanders after they lost JT but gained Trotz

Exactly and already we have seen them come together and rally over this. That is a big thing for the team from a morale standpoint. I think there will be bad habits that need to be broke and that will lead to some troubles but I think those are going to be fewer than we may think. The longer Keefe is around the more his system will tighten up.
