I will at least say: It is refreshing to see people at least put themselves on the sending end of an overpay than the usual receiving of one great player for bits and pieces that get that NHL'19 trade meter up. Usually about 8 5th round picks does the trick.

I'm personally of the view that fans tend to over-value the prospect mystery box. Georgiev is valuable in that he is already in the NHL, is very young for a tender, and has a decent SV% already. I feel like that in order to trade for him, the acquiring team has to send out a lot.

That makes sense. It's almost okay too since Carolina is sitting on two 1st rounders and one of them only cost them 6 mil this year. You spread that 6 mil by adding extra 600k to your top 9 and it was pretty much a free 1st. Carolina could do this trade and still be fine. Although, Ryan Suzuki was a steal picking him up late in the 1st round though so it would kind of suck to trade him away. Wouldn't hurt as bad if you just say you're trading away a 28th overall pick. Also, Neds seems to be developing quite alright in the A, any reason you want to get rid of him?

I could see Georgiev, who's an RFA next season without arbitration rights, being very appealing to Carolina. As a Rangers fan I'd love to get the kind of return in trade you're suggesting, hopefully he will continue to play the way he's been playing and they'll be a bidding war between several teams for Georgiev.

Ned is simply a give to get proposition. He's been very good in the AHL after a terrible start. I view Ned highly as a prospect, I just simply view Georgiev as worth a ton in a trade due to him being in the NHL at such a young age.

Also the way Adam Fox is playing for the Rangers, he's certain to play more than 30 NHL games this season. Which would make the conditional 3rd round pick from NYR a 2nd round pick giving Carolina two 2nd round picks in next years draft as well.

So they could do this and not overly be all that hurt.

Yes or depending on the trade market being offered for Georgiev, NYR's 2nd round pick in next years draft instead of Suzuki could be traded back to NYR.

The perceived wisdom I've heard is that the going rate for Georgiev is a second and a high-quality prospect. Your offer seems like much too much. Surely the first, even if an overpayment, would be enough, especially to a team that won't have a second (due to the Fox acquisition).

And, there's no assurance that Nedeljkovic isn't better than Georgiev over time.
