Lafreniere and 19-20 deadline moves

Description
Just a quick look at what this team could look like if we win the ultimate prize this year. Still a gaping whole at 2C that could end up being filled by Veleno eventually, but it doesn't seem like he will be ready come next year. Helm can go to any team for a 3rd and 50% retained. I think the Athanasiou trade is fair value for a 30 goal scorer RFA with speed that can keep pace with Connor McDavid. He would fit in nicely with the Carolina way of quick zone exits to offensive chances off the rush. Could go to any team though, but I think the asking price is a 1st and a solid defense prospect, specifically on the left side. Not to worried about the contracts, just kind of slotting players in. I think it's a given if Mantha signs long term if north of 7 million, and Bertuzzi is creeping closer and closer to Larkin money at his current pace, but I don't want to put him there just yet. Probably an overpay for an aging Greiss, but we have the cap space so we can afford it.

That's a pretty good strategy, and sound foundation. You'll have some growing pains, but Yzerman is patient. I'm impressed. Good job.

Love it great job, If we can get Bean+Carolina's 2020 1st round pick for AA. I'd be a happy camper.

I like Bean or Haydn Fleury in that trade. Left side depth on the blue-line is starting to be questionable. I'd trade AA for a high-end center prospect as well as he's the oldest of the "core". Ideally Larkin is a 2C if we end up only getting Byfield or Lundell my feelings aren't going to be terribly hurt.

I think the only clear cut future 1C of this draft is probably Byfield. Lundell seems a lot like another Larkin, in the sense that he is a very good defensive minded center, probably the best in the draft, but still has the capabilities obviously to be a great offensive guy. But probably not put up the 1C points of elite playoff teams. If we miss out on Lafreniere or Byfield and fall to 3rd or 4th, I'm picking Tim Stutzle out of the DEL. The kid has hands, speed, great hockey IQ, and is lighting up the DEL. Look him up or look into him more if you haven't really. I have woken up at 730 on Sunday's to watch his Adler Mannheim games and I'm telling you, the kid is legit. He plays wing over in the DEL but has played center before and has the skill set too. I think he is the only other player who can be an elite line driving center out of this draft. I've been saying this for a long time that I'm drafting him at 3, even when the early draft rankings had him at like 10-12. And now he's slowly inching his way closer, the highest I've seen him is 4th now. But I'm telling you, I would absolutely love to draft him at 3.

I like this too, but I don't know if Carolina would cough that much up. Also what do you guys think about instead of Greiss, sign Lehner instead?

I'd be happy with a Lehner signing. Except all we really need right now is a bridge goalie to get us to Larsson, we aren't really looking for a starter through free agency. But if we sign Lehner long term him and Bernier would be a good tandem, then Larsson can come up when Bernier is done and Lehner can mentor Larsson and eventually phase Larsson into the starting spot and Lehner out. It all depends on term for me.
