Wouldn't Dermott's contract take him straight to UFA?

VERY good point, in retrospect i would either add or subtract a year to that contract. Hopefully add, likely subtract

I think Leafs could negotiate a good contract for him since he gets low TOI and not a crazy number of points, which are vital in contract negotiations.

I will say one thing, in the longer term scheme of things you have log jammed sandin. I’m not sure if muzzin fits that way. If leafs were able to keep Dermott on the left next season he could slide to the right the following season bringing Sandin into the top 4.

All in all not a bad team minus the term given to Dermott.
