Other teams can only hope that Byram and Makar play themselves into $8+ million dollar contracts, then MacKinnon gets a $12 million dollar one and maybe the cap stays still so it actually effects them but other then that ya

Don’t really want hall, feels too expensive for a player who doesn’t solve any really weaknesses in the current healthy line up.

Avs don’t need more offense or secondary scoring, without mikko and landy out they are still one of the top scoring teams in the league f, getting more balanced 2 way wingers at half the cost of hall makes way more sense than 10.5m for hall who would have to be placed in a 2nd line wing role

Mack needs to be with a defensive oriented winger who
Can take draws as well. That’s what landy does and why Calvert donskoi and even kadri has filled that spot. Hall doesn’t fill that role and he’s not sliding mikko down the line up. Amazing player but not a seamless fit

You say no bad contracts yet you have Taylor Hall signed at 10.5M for 7 years... That's the exact definition of a bad contract.

im with ya man, Hall at 10.5m just is reckless spending. You are buying the name to put in a lesser role when you can get a guy who would be in that same role for half the price.
Dont want to touch Hall with a 10 foot pole with that contract if it impacts giving Landy his deserved raise to be the life long captain of this team

Agreed 100%, especially giving Landy was he deserves. At this point, I'm thinking Burakovsky will be able to produce what is required for the Avs long term at for half (or hopefully less) of what this guy wants to give Hall.

It will be nice one the Avs get healthy again and maintain it so a 2nd line of Bura-Kadri-Donskoi can finally gel. I feel like they're the same types of players as the top line, just built a bit differently.

Hall is a nice to have but not at all some game changer for them. Without Mikko and Landy avs are 7th in offence in terms of goals for (5 goals back from 3rd Oilers wiht 2 games in hand) and 4th in goals per game. Really does Hall change the teams offense at all once Mikko and Landy are back too? Might be a marginal upgrade but at that point avs are already one of the top offenses in the league so I dont see the big value added there at the cost of the assets and cap space to get him.

Bura is moving into a 5m contract at this rate....you need to extend Landy, Bura, Grubi, and Makar starting as early as Jan this year. I dont think there is all this magical cap space to add 10.5m-11m in Hall.
Personally I would rather them spend some solid assets to get Zucker (4 years at 5.5m) and he plays unreal defense as well. Hall just is too brain dead defensively to justify

Definitely no room for Hall.

Only Bura can be extended after Jan this year though, maybe you mean starting with just him though? Frankie too hopefully he continues being a solid "backup". Zadorov is the only big question mark I have right now. I hope somehow he can be a part of the team still for a while but I don't know how that'll play out.

I read they can start talking with Landeskog Jan 1st, cant sign anything till the offseason.
Zads is a tough one....you would have to move Cole to lock up his spot bc with how Graves has earned Bednars trust and now is dong PK duties, hes going to have a roster spot in that 6th/7th D for a while.
Byram is on the way so its Girard Byram Graves Cole and Zads as LHS depth....cole can natually moved on from when his contract is up, Zads you can get an asset for unless they want to pay him too much to be a 3rd pairing Dman....I think he gets traded this offseason bc the numbers game is going to get him

Girard Makar
Byram EJ
Cole Graves
Timmins

I think my ideal D pairings would be like this:

Option 1 : Buyout Cole during this offseason. I'd rather Zads than an aging Cole.

Girard - EJ
Byram - Makar
Zadorov -Timmins
Graves

Option 2 : Buyout/Trade Cole, while letting Byram play 1 more year in Junior, to keep his ELC intact and mature. Bring Zads back for 3-4 years @ 3.5-3.75M

Girard - EJ
Graves - Makar
Zadorov - Timmins
Barberio (Bring the stache back. He works hard)

Option 3 : Keep Cole, letting his contract end naturally while letting Byram play 1 more year in Junior, to keep his ELC intact and mature.

Girard - EJ
Graves - Makar
Cole / Zadorov - Timmins

Overall, good problem to have right?
