Wow, that 1st pick could set the Sabres ahead in a big way if they miss the playoffs again. I don't think they move it for anything - certainly not for Kapanen!

No thanks, we are not able to hand over the first. Perhaps you would be interested in the second round and Colin Miller, anyway, our GM will choose another LHD in the second round, which can only hack the list in 4-5 years.

Wouldn’t the Sabres trade chips come from their excess of defenseman primarily? Not sure why they would even consider moving their first or second next draft. Surely they have other options for obtaining forward help.

id actually rather keep Bogosian and also I'd only move that first for an established top 6 scorer

I like Kapanen but not enough to move a first round pick. I'd move the 2nd rounder for the 3rd though. They could have a bottom 6 forward that we have plenty of too rather than moving picks from either side.

I think that must have been the plan, but other teams are not interested in the players that we would like to move, or the value of the offers is underwhelming. We have dressed 7 d and 11 f a few times now, injuries are complicating this, but that should never have been the plan. Its a recurring theme- sabres fans would like to move ristolainen, scandella, or bogosian, and everybody changes the subject to montour, miller, jokiharju, or possibly pilut. Or they just skip whats on the menu and go right to mittelstadt, cozens, or our first rounder. This is the tax you pay for sucking for the last decade.

It's a very high price to pay for Kapenen, if in the real world a deal was to be discussed, I could see the Leafs asking for the 1st but easily settling on a second rnd pick instead of the first in the trade I proposed in the AGM

Scandella and Bogosian I understand but Ristolainen to the right team surely could fetch a decent winger right? Hasn’t Miller been healthy scratched? What’s his story this year? Would moving Miller over Risto make more sense?

I think the idea when montour, miller, and jokiharju were brought in was to trade ristolainen (who should have held the most value) and move out an extremely talented player who is prone to bone headed mistakes for help up front. Its probably time to move on from players who have seen nothing but losing in their 5 years in the league. Miller started the season well but cooled as the team did. So if the idea was to move ristolainen, moving miller instead complicates this. Miller may or may not return the forward that would help the middle 6, but it likely is a lesser player than ristolainen returns. And ristolainen has had 5 coaches who all insist on leaning on his raw talent for 25 minutes per night with poor results. So moving miller instead may be what happens, but the sabres are likely worse off for it.
