Probably a 3rd round pick since he'd play backup on almost any playoff team

Goalie trades are difficult to evaluate. You can't just take the Keith Kinkaid for a 5th rounder and apply that to everyone. On the one hand...if you have a starting goalie then yeah...a 3rd is probably about right. The acquiring team is only looking for a backup and thus wouldn't trade a whole lot. But go ask STL fans how important a goalie is. Years of Elliot/Allen/failure and then Binnington comes in and they win it all. Dallas and Philly fans can attest to similar stories.

So a team like CAR who 100% does NOT have 1 starting goalie, but are still considered contenders should take that TOR 1st round pick and go get the best possible goalie they can. Whether they can work something with NYR for Henrik or if they can work something for Crow or even Lehner...some how some way they need to fix their issue between the pipes. There's no guarantee that they'll win the cup, but it's pretty much a guarantee other teams will be trading a 1st rounder to improve the playoff roster. CAR will likely need to follow suit if they want to stay contenders.

Retain 3 Million, give us a pick, and Montreal will take him off your hands. He would make a great backup. SC experience would be perfect here, Kinkaid has been awful

Why would we give you a pick? Crawford has been amazing this year lol.

because 3 Million dollars is still a lot of money for a backup goalie. I'm sure a ****ty team would take him off your hands though. His leadership would be super crucial for an up and coming team.

What's better? $3M for 3.02 GAA and .914 SV% or $10.5M for 2.89 GAA and .907 SV%? Oh and the $10.5 has 6 more years until the guy is 38 years old. Pretty easy answer...$3M and 2 cups.

I think if the Blackhawks are in the race then they are keeping Lehner and Crawford until the end of the year, but if they are not then it really is all dependent on Crawford’s play. If he is stellar like he is this season then I’d think he would command a 1st round pick and maybe something else. but if he slides and doesn’t preform well this season then i think a 3rd would suffice. Crawford brings a lot to the table, he isn’t that old at 34, he has won 2 Stanley Cups which only Quick, Fleury, And Murray match. And Crawford offers a lot of stability in net. There may even be a possibility that CHI keeps him passed this year because this has happened twice before: once with Crawford- Darling, and fans thought CHI would keep Darling and they chose to keep Crawford. Then with Crawford-Emery which is close to what Crawford-Lehner have right now, some thought that Crawford will go but Crawford stayed. History repeats itself and I wouldn’t be surprised that if Crawford plays well this season CHI may keep him, and trade Lehner because Lehner would command a huge money contract. I also think CHI may be able to keep both as well if Crawford and Lehner both come back on team-friendly contracts then we may see the same thing we do this season with them spilling starts.

It wouldn’t be $3 million at the trading deadline. Crawford would be a rental for team upgrading the goaltending looking for a long playoff run. Crawford is not going to wave his NTC unless it is a team legitimate shot at winning the cup. With a deep draft, I think most GM’s won’t give a first unless the “rental” signs an extension. I am betting Crawford would net a 2nd and a prospect if he is move in February

The way Lehner is playing it would be crazy to move him. Nothing against Crow (has always been underrated in the league) but the right move is to sign Lehner. His performance and his age are factors.

I said it in the summer. A one two punch in net. I like think of both goaltenders as 1A & 1B. There 30 general managers envying the Blackhawks goaltending this season. If the club can collectively get it in their heads they must skate to win then they can make the playoffs and with this one two punch, anything can happen.
