That Markstrom deal could look like a home run in 2 seasons

Think Detroit picks Byfield or Lafreniere if they get the #1 pick?

I think Lafreniere at #1 but I would completely understand Byfield. Center depth in the organization is not good.

Larkin, AA, Veleno, Rasmussen, you're just fine IMO

I agree, I think he could be a solid #4 Dman, but boy does he make a lot of bone head plays. Yes hes young and learning, one more year and Nemeth is gone.

If you need a center, pick one in the third round. ¸

You need another D (in the second round IMO)

If you have #1, you take the best overall (Lafrienere) regardless of position. Detroit has fallen 2 spots in each of the last 3 drafts, I don't expect to get #1 overall but hopeful for #2 and Byfield.

Laf no question, the kid is a walking (well skating) highlight reel, he's by far the best player in this draft imo

Take Byfield or Perfetti and I think youre good. Maybe try to move up with your 2nd rounders to late 1st and take a D man.

Yzerman has pretty much said AA is better on the wing, though I'd have him at center. Larkin is a good player for sure but he doesn't stack up with the elite 1Cs in the league real well. Rasmussen and Veleno? We'll see, hopefully they pan out.

Drafted a lot of D last year. Couple are playing SHL hockey now, so good start there. Hronek and Seider are hopefully the real thing.

What do you expect from McIssac? Bottom pairing D?

Waiting to see him get going after the injury. Hopefully he's right back at it as the left side of our system blue-liners isn't a lot to talk about. Top 4 would be a great thing if he can get there, but I'm usually skeptical about prospects.

IMO he's one of the better D in the Q so I'd look forward to see him play if I were you

Don't disagree. A lot of people had him slotted in the first first pairing for Canada at worlds which is saying quite a bit. But it's a big jump from the Q to the N.

He'd have to spend AT LEAST a year and a half in Grand Rapids before stepping up in the NHL tho...

Yeah no doubt. Makes me wonder how far down the road contention really is for this group. If you start factoring in regression at about age 32, the clock is ticking on Mantha and AA. They'll have 6 seasons left after this one before they hit that mark. I think Yzerman might move on from one of them soon if the return is right.
