I think the only way they get traded before kappy expires is if Hyman is re signed.

Neither are getting traded. I wonder if fans on here realize that it really doesn't matter how many times people post trades on here, that doesn't mean anyone is ever going to be traded. The team is going to get a run of games with Keefe before any changes are made. No one is getting traded until we find out how everyone fits with Keefe's system.

To answer the rest of your question... It’s kind of a toss up. I think kappy brings perceived value and actual value with the fact that he is still rfa. The reasons to not move home are his pk and shg capabilities. Mango I find to be a bit smarter with the puck and has good chemistry with Willy and Auston. I know the perceived issue is our lw depth. But it is actually filling fast. Mikheyev Hyman engvall and soon to be Robertson and Korshkov. Although keefe seems to like Hyman on his strong side.

I guess between the two it’s flip a coin. Their value to the team seems to be very equal. More so than any other two players on the team. Maybe it just comes down to another team’s needs and trade value.

Clearly to me if either were to be moved it is for an RHD. With the emergence of Holls strong play I think that has really soothed the need for not just this year but in the future as well.

Personally I think Kapanen is more valuable than Johnsson so I’d rather see Mango go if one was to be traded. Also feel Kerfoot is an expendable asset of Leafs look to improve the back end

That seems to be the perception with casual fans but I’m not sure if trained scouts see it the same way. I will say that kapanen has been getting better with his patience with the puck.

My question is if the trade value is indeed higher for kapanen, would he be the one to trade?

Since the Leafs are really only three deep at centre, you really can't trade Kerfoot. Leaf believes they have "lots" of wingers, so you think a winger with cap is the most likely to be traded.

Kapanen sacrificed at Expansion draft...and if TML will want to re-sign Mikheyev and build some competitive D with decent Backup, Hyman is proly on the way out, entering his last Season next year so instead of being rental he will bring some D in.....

Kapanen has higher value because of his speed, penalty kill ability, and he’s also stepped up his physical play this year.

Kerfoot really isn’t that good as a centre and played mostly on the wing last year. Plus Leafs have Matthews, Tavares, Spezza, & Nylander that can play in the middle on the top 6 if need be. Spezza, Nylander, Gauthier, Shore, & Engvall could all step into bottom 6 centre roles as well. Leafs are more than 3 deep at centre.

Unfortunately for the leafs I think that at least 2/3 of kerfoot, kapanen, johnsson will be moved in the next year or two once Andersen and Rielly need new contracts. It’s the same problem all good teams run into. You have to find ways to fill out your bottom 9 with ELCs and buy-low projects if you have as many stars as the leafs do. Otherwise you get burned every summer like Chicago did when emerging studs get paid

You seem to suggest that Hawks ran into cap issues when paid for their emerging studs. No way should the Leafs getting into a bidding war just to sign Reilly and Andersson. If they are going to cost too much they Leafs just might have to spend their cap in other ways.
