It’s pretty close.

Laine > Domi
Heinola < Caufield

The Jets get a great 2C behind Scheifele and a bonafide goal scorer to replace Laine’s goal scoring. The Habs get goal scoring and size (much needed) and a very good LD prospect. Fits both teams needs. Domi is 24 and 72 points last year playing at centre. This trade allows the Jets to shift Wheeler back to RW. The Habs are really small up front and need size. Normally, I would be totally against the Habs trading Caufield but we’re already so small and adding someone 5’7” won’t help. The Jets are already a big team so they could afford to have a small player. The Habs future at LD isn’t super bright and getting Heinola helps that a lot.

Umm he broke Auston Matthews goal scoring record in the NDTP. He had 72 goals last year and is on pace to score 30 in the NCAA this year.

I mean, yes, Caufield is likely better, but the fact that 6 months ago they were picked 5 picks apart (15 and 20th) doesn’t make up the difference between Domi and Laine.

I'm not sure why the Jets would do this.

And heinola had 5 points in 8 games this year IN THE NHL. As a defenseman. You can score in juniors? Cool doesnt automatically mean it translates. Gimme the dman over the winger anyday.

You're nuts. There's a reason he didn't stay with the Jets.

Yeah its called money. They didnt want him to hit free agency early because they need defensemen. He looked fantastic with the jets in those 8 games.

They are in win-now mode. You don't send a guy down who will help you win now.

One was a steal and the other was drafted where he was suppose to go.
